DRIVEKEY

Drivekey is a solderless modchip that connects between the Wii dvd drive and the wii. With the exception of scrubbed games DriveKey plays all backups including trucha-signed backups, plays games from any region, plays original games(non backup)and GC backups (no streaming audio). With DriveKey No loader needed, as Drivekey automatically boots the games. Compatible with all Wii drives and makes easy installation for Wii's that have the epoxy on the chip. The Drivekey is update able via JTAG or DVD

WASABI

The Wasabi was the first Wii mod chip to support all chipset revisions, from DMS D2A and D2B to the latest D2C drives D2C2 and D2E . It also boasts 128kB of flash memory for future firmware updates, a massive upgrade from other chips available on the market. The chip is advertised as being more stable compared to other D2C modchips. It requires only 9 wires to solder for D2C (and 5 for older chipsets), a sizable step down from current modchips.

The website also notes that there are a few kilobytes of data stored on Wii optical discs that are not present in backups of Wii games. They claim that this data can be used by Nintendo to build a new copy protection, and that Wasabi can defend against this because the extra data can be stored in its high capacity flash memory.

In early 2009 the Wasabi Zero modchip was released. This chip uses a clip-on style connector and requires zero soldering.

WiiKEY Mod Chip ( Wiikey2 )

Wiikey, was one of the first DVD-upgradeable modchips to be released for the Wii. It is a first generation chip, and can only be installed on systems with chipset revisions of D2B and older (including systems with “cut” IC legs). The Wiikey has six points to solder on to the DVD drive. This can be done either via wires or through the "quick solder" method.

The Wiikey’s firmware works by funneling through the debug serial port. This effectively tricks the DVD drive into believing that the backup is in fact genuine, much like current Xbox 360 chips do. Periodic firmware updates are released from the Wiikey development team, as well as configuration discs used to change the Wiikey settings. Both can be found on the Wiikey website. Wiikey.cn

Hello,

Actually, I just installed homebrew channel to run some jap region game which my wiikey desn't support very well.

And I heard Cios will support more campatability between software boot and drives, so I decided to installed them together.

Unfortunately, some error happened, and none of my backups can be read, only the official zelda TP is working at the moment.

I installed cIOS38_rev13b-Installer though homebrew channel at first, and use the installer to setup the IOS38-64-v3610.wad.

After that, I used Wad Manager to install ios55-64-v4633, v4113, and v3609.

Now, if I use freeregion to run the copy disc, it will coms up a codedump screen, and softchip gives me Excepion：Loctl error （DI—ReadID, gamma gives silimier error as well.

Thus I thought it might be the wiikey firmwire is stopped working, I tried to burn 1.9b recovery disc on dvd-r as 2X speed. Tried couple of times to reset and wait for 5 minutes, not working.

My wii is bought in melbourne, pal wii, system 3.3e, wiikey version was 1.9g before. Hope you can give me some further helps, thanks.

Kynar wire is widely known and used but Sony has the best repair single strand wire available.

Code injected in the controller is the same like wasabi, is tested in this version only on WII D2C versions.

Relatively easy installation of D2C wii modchips like D2CKey . Use a sharp pointer tool to first scrape gently across the divets then flux pen -
