WII SERIAL NUMBERS
Using the Wii console Serial number we can generally determine the wii main chip that is installed in a particular Wii. This is only a guide though as we have come across many different chipsets within these Wii Serial Numbers so the only 100% certain way is to open the console.On the Wii console itself there is a Sticker which labels the console and has the Wii serial numbers on it
This is a guide to Australian Wii Consoles and serial numbers.
LAH1016 or serial numbers less than this is generally a DMS/D2B chipset which is a straight forward installation of wii chips like Wiikey Freewii cyclowiz wiikey clone and most other wii mods. Wireless mod chip installs are quite simple on these LAH 1016 model type.
LAH1016 and LAH10215 or serial numbers between these the main wii chipset that a wii mod chip is installed onto has 3 legs removed which are contact points for the wii mod chip - On these wii mainboards the 3 legs can be made apparent simply by grinding back the main wii chip until the 3 contact points are revealed enabling a solid soldering contact for the wiikey and other wii mods - these LAH 1016 and LAH 10215 main boards are relatively easy wii mod insatallations picture below.
LAH10216 or higher serial numbers are generally a D2C chipset & have a wii chipset where the contact points for the wii mod chips are apparent but the type of chip set stops most wii mod chips from be able to function. There are now new wii mods available that effectively work on Wii consoles with serial numbers LAH10216 although they require many wires to install and require fine point soldering skills. Wiikey modchips will not work on this LAH 10216 model wii mod chips with D2C Chipset compatibility only.
LAH10220 and LAH10330 or higher serial numbers are also a revised Wii D2C chipset . There are now new wii D2C mod chips available that effectively work on Wii consoles with these serial numbers. Wiikey mod chips will not work on these model D2C wii mod chips with D2C Chipset compatibility only like the Actel D2C Pro or the latest Wii D2C mod chip Argon by Infectus - install diagrams here.
LAH104 and LAH105 serial numbers are also a revised Wii D2C chipset . There are now new wii D2C mod chips available that effectively work on Wii consoles with these serial numbers. Wiikey mod chips will not work on these model D2C wii mod chips with D2C Chipset compatibility only like the Actel D2pro or the latest Wii D2C mod chip Argon by Infectus - install diagrams here.
LAH105 or higher serial numbers are also a revised Wii D2C chipset but are called D2C2 as pictured above. There are now new wii D2C mod chips available that effectively work on Wii consoles with these serial numbers available from May 31st 2008. Wiikey mod chips will not work on these model D2C wii mod chips with D2C Chipset compatibility only like the Wasabi or the latest Wii D2C mod chip Argon by Infectus - install diagrams here.
LAH106 and LAH107 serial numbers are also a revised Wii D2C chipset called D2E which is printed on the Wii Drive Chips. There are now new wii D2E mod chips available that effectively work on Wii consoles with these serial numbers. Wiikey mod chips will not work on these model D2E wii mod chips with D2E Chipset compatibility only like the Wiikey 2 / Dual+E / D2SUN / D2PRO / D2EPRO - install diagrams here.
LAH107 and LAH109 serial numbers are also a revised Wii D2C chipset called D2E which is printed on the Wii Drive Chips but may also have the Epoxy Coated DVD Drive Chips. There are now new wii D2E mod chips available that effectively work on Wii consoles but more labour and care must be taken to remove the epoxy glue covering - wii mod chips with D2E Chipset compatibility only like the Wiikey 2 / Dual+E / D2SUN / D2PRO / D2EPRO -- install diagrams here.

Q. Hi !! Modchip -Wizard - My Name is Woodstock and after Playing Super Smash Brothers once my Nintendo Wii has a Black Screen- I can hear the Audio but no Video Output on The Nintendo wii at all just a Black Screen- Is my wii Broken or is the Wii Video Chip dead?.
A.Hello Woodstock- Try This:
When in the Game and it turns Black or- when the Wii is Black Screen as soon as its turned on - press A + 2 + Z together which should result in a short “ping-like” sound.
This should have activated the interlaced mode. Leave the menu and you should see the normal game screen and not the black screen anymore. To change the mode again press A + 1 + Z using the same method as above.

Yes the Latest Manufacturing change has come about to improve production costs of the latest Wii Consoles in the Form of a Modified Wii Drive board being hailed Wii D2C2 or Wii D2C 2.
As a result the standard D2C modchip firmware does not function on them - In answer Modchip developers for the Wii have released some new firmwares to work on the newer consoles.

The D2C chip only has one line of writing saying “GC2-D2C”. This Wii is showing now all regions.
The text “APCB D3 94V-0” which is present on some D2C2 boards is NOT on my board.
Up till end of May 2008 were not modifiable - latest Wii chip bios can now modify these consoles !!
To Play NTSC Games on Chip Wii Console:
Connect wii by component cables- if possible. (Red Green Blue)
Turn off De flicker in game options
Toggle between 50-60Hz in wii video options menu

Dont forget to keep your Wii Mod chip Bios Updated using the latest modchip firmware as there are some games that auto update the Wii Console Firmware code which can cause wii console booting errors.
How to prevent bricking your wii
Before playing NTSC Games and updating your dashboards do a quick internet search for games compatibility lists for Modded Wii Consoles and avoid the games that have caused problems for others until the correct patches are made-
Some NTSC games can easily be PAL Patched using the Wii PAL Patcher and running the Wii ISO through "Brick Blocker" will also prevent the Wii becoming inoperable.

some Consoles just insert the Wiikey config 1.4 Disc set to Region Free - YES. Then insert Wiikey 1.9 Update Disc.
You can download the latest Config Discs from Wiikey.cn - if your Wiikey boots the Config disc but goes to an Error message which says- "ERROR turn off wii console and check Wii Manual for instructions." ( In this case even original wii games will not work - Likely you have a wii with D2B and 3.1e Wii dashboard - Then try the following:
1. Get hold of a HEX Edited version of the Wiikey GCOS Version - Config 1.3 Disc - this version will boot using a Gamecube controller after it loads eject the disc and insert the Wiikey.cn Update Disc 1.9 and using the gamecube controller hit - Start DVD - the menu will identify your Drive and load the 1.9 Update Disc to the Wiikey Setup menu - Follow the prompts and Wiikey configuration will complete.
2. Now insert the Wiikey Config 1.4 Disc ( no need for HEX Edited version at this point ) and boot to the Wiikey Configuration menu - select Region Free to YES ( Default is NO ) - Save the settings and reboot the Wii Console.
3. If this does not work - just reverse the order and insert the HEX Edited version GCOS disc to load- 1.4 Config Disc first set Region Free to yes then use the 1.9 update disc to complete the setup.

Procedure to upgrade ARGON SPI with new WASABUS FIRMWARE 9
WIRES:
1- Install the new programmer (use the DLL of the official

3- EXIT FROM "OPEN INFECTUS" MENU
4- DISCONNECT THE INJECTUS PROGRAMMER FROM USB AND RECONNECT

SPI FLASH ID (is very important that there is the PART NO.

The LED on the ARGON will show you if modchip is correctly
working or not, is very simple
LED OFF = Don't works
LED ON = Code injection procedure is complete
REGIONAL SETUP:
Current firmware is setup by default like PAL, and in the
next revision we will use two ARGON pads to configure the
regional version.
NEW COOL FEATURE WITH INJECTUS CONNECTED:
The new firmware allow the users to leave INJECTUS
PROGRAMMER connected to the modchip and use the SWITCHES and
LED to understand the modchip status.
Pls. remove the USB cable from PC when you use INJECTUS to

When argon is correctly working the INJECTUS will show GREEN
