What is the Wiikey V2?
The Wiikey V2, is yet another modchip from the same team we love...that coded the wiikey/d2ckey/d2pro/d2pro9. It works on every wii on the market. It was produced with stability in mind as there is a gap in the market currently. People want the d2pro, but some people are slightly frustrated with the amount of small tiny bugs the modchip has, the its fairly large price. As of 4/11/08 0 it is also the only modchip to have stable 6 wire firmware for d2c/d2c2/d2e wiis. This means that installation is as easy as soldering 6 wires to solder pads (no solder required on the legs of the IC)
Another modchip? what for? I thought d2pro did it all?
So did we! So much so that when d2pro emailed us about it, we really couldn't understand why anyone would go for this. Yes, its cheaper to produce - but d2pro is insanely popular and it would take a detailed feature list to knock d2pro off its pedastole.
Their aim is not to knock the d2pro off, its merely an alternative modchip that people can choose without having to buy an inferior modchip from an inferior team. The 'Actel' IC that was used on the d2pro ended up causing more issues than it solved. It has now been replaced with a 'Lattice' chip, which from our tests, kicks ass.
Wii Mod chips testing
We have been testing wiikey non stop. We have put the wiikey v2in every single drive and are yet to fault it. The 6 wire firmware is amazing to us. Only 1 year ago when the first D2C modhcip came out by the same team (d2ckey) it took a massive 31 wires to do what they can not do with 6 wires.
The modchip comes with an unbuilt update blocker, which means its impossible to brick your wii from an international game like before.
Whats the catch?
No catch. It works fine with no bugs, and will be supported.
Wiikey V2 or D2pro - what should i go for!
Its up to you really. D2pro can be known as a 'high end' modchip because of its JTAG upgradability, which means 100% of the modchip can be changed. The part of the modchip on wiikey v2 that you cannot change is the IC in the middle that controlls how the modchip works (how code is injected etc). So in reality, it should never need to be changed anyway.... The part that is 100% upgradable on the modchip is the 'SPI' that controls the game authentication, which is the only thing Nintendo could ever change.

LAH1016 or serial numbers less than this is generally a DMS/D2B chipset which is a straight forward installation of wii chips like Wiikey Freewii cyclowiz wiikey clone and most other wii mods. Wireless mod chip installs are quite simple on these LAH 1016 model type.
LAH1016 and LAH10215 or serial numbers between these the main wii chipset that a wii mod chip is installed onto has 3 legs removed which are contact points for the wii mod chip - On these wii mainboards the 3 legs can be made apparent simply by grinding back the main wii chip until the 3 contact points are revealed enabling a solid soldering contact for the wiikey and other wii mods - these LAH 1016 and LAH 10215 main boards are relatively easy wii mod insatallations picture below.
LAH10216 or higher serial numbers are generally a D2C chipset & have a wii chipset where the contact points for the wii mod chips are apparent but the type of chip set stops most wii mod chips from be able to function. There are now new wii mods available that effectively work on Wii consoles with serial numbers LAH10216 although they require many wires to install and require fine point soldering skills. Wiikey modchips will not work on this LAH 10216 model wii mod chips with D2C Chipset compatibility only.
LAH10220 and LAH10330 or higher serial numbers are also a revised Wii D2C chipset . There are now new wii D2C mod chips available that effectively work on Wii consoles with these serial numbers. Wiikey mod chips will not work on these model D2C wii mod chips with D2C Chipset compatibility only like the Actel D2C Pro or the latest Wii D2C mod chip Argon by Infectus - install diagrams here.

Actually, I just installed homebrew channel to run some jap region game which my wiikey desn't support very well.
And I heard Cios will support more campatability between software boot and drives, so I decided to installed them together.
Unfortunately, some error happened, and none of my backups can be read, only the official zelda TP is working at the moment.
I installed cIOS38_rev13b-Installer though homebrew channel at first, and use the installer to setup the IOS38-64-v3610.wad.
After that, I used Wad Manager to install ios55-64-v4633, v4113, and v3609.
Now, if I use freeregion to run the copy disc, it will coms up a codedump screen, and softchip gives me Excepion：Loctl error （DI—ReadID, gamma gives silimier error as well.
Thus I thought it might be the wiikey firmwire is stopped working, I tried to burn 1.9b recovery disc on dvd-r as 2X speed. Tried couple of times to reset and wait for 5 minutes, not working.
My wii is bought in melbourne, pal wii, system 3.3e, wiikey version was 1.9g before. Hope you can give me some further helps, thanks.

Hello Woodstock- Try This:
When in the Game and it turns Black or- when the Wii is Black Screen as soon as its turned on - press A + 2 + Z together which should result in a short “ping-like” sound.
This should have activated the interlaced mode. Leave the menu and you should see the normal game screen and not the black screen anymore. To change the mode again press A + 1 + Z using the same method as above.

Latest Korean Wii Console Drive board - Wii D2C2 ( labelled APCB D3 94V-0 )
The D2C chip only has one line of writing saying “GC2-D2C”. This Wii is showing now all regions.
The text “APCB D3 94V-0” which is present on some D2C2 boards is NOT on my board.
Up till end of May 2008 were not modifiable - latest Wii chip bios can now modify these consoles !!
