Latest Model Playstation 2 Console SCPH 90000 Japan released November 22 '07 = Slimline version console with latest PS2 manufacturing technology.

PS2 SCPH 30002 V3 Common PS2 Repairs - Problems:
SCPH30002 V3 would heavily scratch discs in concentric circles - Re-Aligning Tray was needed. Laser Reading Problems. Faulty Small Daughter Board under Main Board would cause extremely quick Tray Eject after power "ON" PS2 Console.

USA - The way to tell if you have a v9 and not a v10 without physically opening the PS2 unit is checking to see what type of material is "holding" the unit in the blue box. Version9 units are being held via a styro foam material. Otherwise the motherboard will read off GH-023

USA - The way to tell if you have a v10 and not a v9 without physically opening the PS2 unit is checking to see what type of material is "holding" the unit in the blue box. Version10 units are held via a cheap card board material. Otherwise the motherboard will read off GH-026 -

These Model PS2 Consoles were Packaged in a Dark Blue and Black Card Board Box with a Picture of the PS2 and Some Pattern Work Design - as all Previous models ( apart from The Red Card Board Boxed GT Pack ) were packaged in The well known Plain True Blue PS2 Card Board Box with Just "PS2" Lettering.
SCPH-50002 Common PS2 Repair - Problems:
SCPH 50002 V10 - Small Metal Laser Guide arm that moves Laser upon Rail would have to be bent back to grip the Guide rail or Loud Grating noise would be heard when reading from Disc. This Playstation 2 Model was said to also be prone to the LA Chip Burnout which would stop the console reading any discs but we found that this console did not have the problem. V11 PS2- Only released in Europe. The model # is SCPH-50004 with a GH-027 or GH-029 board. Same board as V10 but console comes with a new laser unit.

SCPH 70002 Slim Common PS2 Repair - Problems:
SCPH 70002 V12 - This Playstation 2 Model was prone to the LA Chip Burnout which would stop the console reading any discs - Replacing the Burnt LA chip would fix. Yellow Power DC Input would come loose and must be re soldered onto Main Board to stop Dangerous Sparking. On Close inspection The Laser Eye would "FOG" over and result in not reading Discs - replacing the Laser Eye and performing a Laser Fix may or May not prevent re-occurance. V13 Slim PS2 Console
SCPH-70001 - (for North America) SCPH70002 for Australia
The Warranty Sticker location has moved from the back and is now located directly over one of the (6) screws on the v13 underside.
Another major change includes the removal of the Phone Line from the back of the v13 console, however, the Network Line is still present.
There is also a small layout change around the Motor Driver IC of the PSTwo mainboard (now GH-032-XX).
SCPH 70002 V13 Common PS2 Repairs - Problems:
SCPH 70002 V13 - This Playstation 2 Model was a Redesign attempt to eliminate the problems of the first Slim Version 12's but the unit was still prone to ( But not as common as V12's) the LA Chip Burnout which would stop the console reading any discs - Replacing the Burnt LA chip would fix. SCPH 75002 V14 - This Playstation 2 Model was a Redesign to eliminate the problems of the first Slim Version 12's
The small Orange Ribbon Cable that connects to the Laser Eye ( Can be seen when opening the lid ) sits too high and may cause concentric circular scratches on Discs played - Molding the Orange cable flat will fix the problem.
